About Me

Woah!

I thought it was time I changed my about me. It’s almost been a year on this blog.

I started 211 lbs, Mid March, 2012.

My heaviest.

My heaviest ish. I think I weighed a bit more when I started, but most overweight people hide from photographers!

Where I am now. 165 lbs.

I am a 26 year old cook, who used to do a lot of sit down/admin type. I’ve also worked in call centers, which is also sitting all day.

When I hit my biggest weight of 211 lbs, it was at a transition point of my life. I was unhappy on many levels. I left my desk job and went back to working for a catering company I had worked for years ago. I knew I had to lose the weight, so I finally decided to make the change.

I track my daily calories with MyFitnessPal on my phone, take progress photos, and measurements to compare over time. You can check my progress page for my most recently updated numbers.

With work, I’m now on my feet for 8 hours a day, and carefully watch what I eat while I’m there. I walk a minimum 2 miles a day, just as my daily commute, and usually include other walking while running errands or for exercise.

Previously I was working out at the gym 3-4 times a week, but currently I’m just doing low level cardio like walking, watching my diet, and doing the occasional body weight exercise.

I believe in common sense and realistic ideals. I do not restrict what I eat, but I try to make good choices throughout the day. If I want a donut, I have one.

I hope you enjoy reading my journey, and I really appreciate the comments/suggestions and compliments.

Thank you!

  1. Heh I knew I’d love this blog as soon as I saw the blog name (how funny is it that we both have fake mustaches in our About Me pages?)! I am going through a VERY similar weight struggle (always have, really), and currently work a soul-sucking desk job. Oh, and have an abandoned recipe blog, too! LOL Totally following you, and best of luck!

  2. So clicked on this b/c you commented on my blog. Love it! I will be following you! I fluctuate weight like crazy. I lost a lot of weight when I was your age and kept it off. If I can do it…so can you. :)

  3. I feel like we may have alot in common (body type/height wise).
To consistently motivate me toward my goal is to put up old pictures of myself, when I looked good, and the worst, recent picture of myself, and recognize how good change will feel. I wish you the best of luck :)

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Love yours! Great progress on your weight loss, we started right about the same weight, so I’ll have to keep checking back to keep myself motivated! :)

  5. Very Inspiring Blogger Award – Congratulations! you have been nominated for this award which is well deserved. visit my site and pick up the details, It is well deserved!

  6. I love reading your posts because they scream to me “this girl tells it like it is.” Do not worry about sounding uppity or someone you are not . Remember, at the end of the day you write for YOU and if people follow you then they respect and like who you are! I also appreciate the food photography on your site. Looking at pictures, whether taken my professionals or not, just adds more of an appeal to read an article. Hang in there !

  7. After your 50lbs post I had to hop over to remind myself when you started… what a fantastic transformation! I find it especially heartening to see how small your waist looks now! I carry a lot of weight in my midsection, I hope I can get to where you are! Congratulations :)
