Hello! Sorry no post yesterday, I was otherwise occupied! But not really. Just lazy. I can’t lie to you!
The reception on Saturday went really well. The weatherman, that awful liar of a man, said it was going to thunderstorm. Luckily it was a nice sunny day!

Breakfast on Saturday. I knew there would be a lot of grazing at the reception, so I went with a light breakfast.

My fruit platter. Yes, I catered my own reception. It was only about 20ish people, so no biggie. Plus, I’m a cook. lol.

Cheese platter! I also made an antipasto platter with grilled veg/pickled things/meat but I didn’t photograph. It was GONE within a few minutes though!

My parents set up their tiny backyard nicely! My middle name is Love, and I have a thing for hearts, so they decorated with little red heart streamers. My mother fussed about her garden as well, looked very nice and just what I was expecting/wanting.
It was a nice event, my family got along well (we’ve never been very…”close”…), we had good conversation and mingling. Plus there seemed to be enough room and everyone was comfortable.
Although, since I’m not a regular type bride I had a lot of weird questions to answer with a lot of weird answers.
“No I don’t have an engagement ring.” “No, sorry, we’re not wearing our wedding bands.” “No I didn’t have a theme wedding, and no one else came with us.” ”Yes we went to the shooting range right after the wedding. No, I’m not a hillbilly.”
I bought my wedding dress at bellis fair on a random shopping trip to the states, and I bought it because I liked the dress. Didn’t think I’d get married in it.
None of that- preordering a dress 6 months in advance and making it a size smaller. No wedding planner. No colour coordinated invites. No rehearsals. No stress.
Just a happy marriage.
Yesterday it was cold and rainy and we just relaxed at home.
Today I went to the gym finally. Weighed myself. I’m still at 180, which is fine. I did a 45 minute cardio work out, but took it easy on my old lady hip. It started to hurt a bit on the way home.
I guess this is what happens when you get old, huh.

All looks so delicious, especially the cheese…. nom!
just found your blog… absolutely love you “observations” page, what a great idea! also, outstanding dedication/progress!!!!!
That food looks great!! Yum!
That fruit platter looks amazing!
Nothing beats a colourful fruit platter for breakfast..
Wait, did you get MARRIED this weekend? Congratulations!!!!
lolol no. i got married may 16th.
What a nice reception! My fiance and I are doing pretty much the same thing and getting married… TOMORROW! We told a few of our very close friends and we are having a very intimate backyard wedding (meaning we spent probably 150 altogether… my dress is a 25 dollar summer dress! haha Nothing fancy). I don’t see why weddings have to be so crazy and big. I want it to be a small moment where I actually talk to everyone and actually like everyone who is there. =D
Haha! We are too alike, lady! i hope you have a wonderful time!!
Thanks! It should be a pretty awesome time! =D I am so excited!
The food looks dee-lish and I’m glad everything went well on Saturday! I can’t believe your middle name is Love. This is so lame, but I have no shame: When I was 14-15, I was this huge Jennifer Love Hewitt fan (who goes by “Love”) and all into lovey dovey things, so the email address I had for the next 15 years was “Love” (with some numbers). I still have that account, actually!
Glad you had the wedding YOU wanted
Thanks honey! Is ok to be dorky, I’m dorky too. i still like love. i love that love is my middle name. love love love.
